The Hellenic Red Cross (H.R.C.) and the Hellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (SFEE) support our vulnerable fellow human beings in Mytilene
Athens, 8 July 2025. – The Hellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (SFEE) and the Hellenic Red Cross (H.R.C.) join forces once again in the framework of the social initiative “proSfEEroume” to support and promote the public and mental health of vulnerable population groups, with an emphasis on border and remote areas of Greece. In this context, The President of SFEE, Mr. Olympios Papadimitriou, the President of the Hellenic Red Cross, Dr. Antonios Avgerinos and executives of the Association and the H.R.C. visited today the Unit for the Elderly and Chronically Ill “Agios Georgios Mytilene” (Nursing Home of Mytilene), the Mixed Day Care Center for People with Disabilities, “KYPSELI” and the Micheleleio Nursing Home of Plomari, which accommodates over 160 chronically ill patients and about 80 personnel.
As part of the “proSFEEroume” initiative, essential needs were met through the provision of pharmaceutical products, medical supplies, necessities, first aid kits, oxygen devices, wheelchairs, seats, and other equipment for both adults and children among the most vulnerable members of our society living in the facilities mentioned above. Additionally, laptops and office equipment were provided for the staff. At the same time, volunteers of the E.E.S. carried out training in First Aid and Mental Health First Aid at the Nursing Home of Mytilene. After the completion of the training program, a Press Conference was held at the offices of the Regional Department of the E.E.S. of Mytilene, in the presence of the city authorities.
The President of SFEE, Mr. Olympios Papadimitriou, said: “Today’s presence in Lesvos, in collaboration with the Hellenic Red Cross, reflects our firm commitment to strengthening care structures that perform particularly important work, while contributing to the protection of public and mental health, as well as to the strengthening of social cohesion. Especially in the border regions of the country, where access to health and pharmaceutical care remains a constant issue, it is the duty of all of us, the State, institutional bodies and companies, to join forces to address these inequalities. I would like to warmly thank the President of the Hellenic Red Cross, Dr. Antonios Avgerinos for our excellent cooperation and I would like to congratulate the volunteers and executives who, with dedication, implement in practice the vision of offering and care. For us at SFEE, corporate responsibility is part of our identity and we will continue with the same commitment and passion to stand by society.”
The President of the Hellenic Red Cross, Dr. Antonios Avgerinos, noted: “Today’s presence in Mytilene confirms, in the most essential way, the commitment of the Hellenic Red Cross to be close to vulnerable social groups, especially in the border and remote areas of our country. Our cooperation with SFEE, in the framework of the excellent initiative “proSfEEroume”, is a living example of social responsibility, humanitarianism and collective contribution. Through the provision of pharmaceutical preparations, health material, as well as the training of personnel in First Aid and Mental Health First Aid, we invest in prevention, the strengthening of structures and, above all, in people. The Hellenic Red Cross will continue to implement targeted anthropocentric actions, paying particular attention to the country’s vulnerable population groups.”
