{"id":67711,"date":"2020-02-04T16:43:02","date_gmt":"2020-02-04T14:43:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sfee.gr\/?p=67711"},"modified":"2024-03-12T19:03:11","modified_gmt":"2024-03-12T17:03:11","slug":"efpia-sfee-joining-the-fight-against-coronavirus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sfee.gr\/en\/efpia-sfee-joining-the-fight-against-coronavirus\/","title":{"rendered":"EFPIA \u2013 SFEE Joining the Fight against Coronavirus!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Press Release<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>EFPIA<\/strong><strong> \u2013 <\/strong><strong>SFEE<\/strong> <strong>Joining the Fight against Coronavirus!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0391\u03b8\u03ae\u03bd\u03b1<\/strong><strong>, 4 February 2020.\u2013<\/strong> The European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) and the Hellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (SFEE), a member company of EFPIA, convey their sympathy to all those affected by the recent outbreak of the coronavirus (nCov-2019). Considering the public health and humanitarian implications, we are committed to joining global efforts to care for those affected, contain the outbreak and develop resources to tackle future outbreaks.<\/p>\n<p>To that end, EFPIA called on to its member companies to identify suitable assets in their libraries that could be utilized in the fight against coronaviruses.<\/p>\n<p>Relevant assets include diagnostics and biomarkers, approved therapies or compounds in development which could be repurposed for use in treating patients with the coronavirus. Sequencing data (pathogens, genomes), cell lines, biobank repositories of clinical samples, viral stocks and strains that could be used to support development or validation of new treatments are also on the list of potential assets today.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the call for assets, EFPIA is exploring, through the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), potential actions to support the development of collaborative research programmes in order to fast-track the development of therapeutics and diagnostics for the coronavirus to complement the ongoing global activities on CoV vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>Europe\u2019s collaborative research community has responded to global health crises before. The Ebola and Ebola+ calls through IMI resulted in two new vaccines, four new diagnostics as well as new identification and compliance tools.
