In Healthcare, we operate as a global specialty innovator in Oncology, Neurology & Immunology, as well as the therapeutic areas of Fertility and Cardiology Metabolism & Endocrinology. The Healthcare business sector discovers, develops, manufactures, and markets innovative pharmaceutical and biological prescription drugs to treat cancer, multiple sclerosis (MS), infertility, and growth disorders, as well as certain cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. These life-changing therapies are used to treat 95 million patients worldwide. We are driven by our purpose “To help create, improve and prolong lives – as one for patients”.

In Life Science, we are a leading global provider of products and services for a wide range of customers, including biotech and pharmaceutical companies, academic and diagnostic labs, and the industrial sector. Life Science: In our Life Science business, we collaborate with the global scientific community to solve the industry’s toughest problems. We provide scientists with lab materials, technologies, and services to make research and biotech production simpler, faster and safer.

Business Sectors

Merck is globally active in three business sectors: Healthcare, Life Science and Electronics.

The Healthcare portfolio includes prescription medicines for the treatment of colorectal cancer, head and neck tumors, multiple sclerosis, infertility, growth hormone disorders, cardiovascular disorders, thyroid disorders, for instance hyper- or hypothyroidism and diabetes.

The Life Science business has a broad product and technology portfolio for the life science industry. Its products and services are used to discover, develop and manufacture drugs of chemical and biotechnological origin as well as in research and application laboratories. Moreover, this business offers analytical systems and test kits for the food and beverage industry.

The product portfolio of Electronics comprises specialty chemicals and functional materials for applications in fields such as consumer electronics, lighting, photovoltaics, printing technology, as well as the coatings, plastics, cosmetics and food industries.
