“Career Day” Event

Athens, 27 March 2026 .-With great success and the participation of more than 60 students of the Postgraduate Studies programs of the Medical School of the University of Athens “Development of new drugs: research, circulation and access” and “Thoracic oncology: modern clinical-laboratory approach and research” in collaboration with the Hellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Companies  (SFEE), the event “Career Day” was held, on Friday, March 27, 2026 at the Crowne Plaza  Hotel in Athens.

The “Career Day” offered more than sixty (60) postgraduate students of the above programs the opportunity to connect with the labor market, as they met and talked with representatives of pharmaceutical companies that are members of SFEE. The students had the opportunity to be informed about the prospects and dynamics of the pharmaceutical industry, as well as about the trends and professional prospects that are emerging in the field of Health. During the event, more than 200 interviews of the companies were conducted with the students and graduates of the Postgraduate Programs in pre-arranged appointments.

The Professor of Pathology-Oncology at the Medical School of the University of Athens and Director of the Third Pathology Clinic and Laboratory, General Hospital “Sotiria”, Director of the Postgraduate Program, Mr. Konstantinos Syrigos stated: “Career Day is an essential initiative that actively strengthens the interconnection of academia with the labor market. Companies in the pharmaceutical sector gain access to well-trained and specialized human resources, while at the same time students and graduates of the Postgraduate Programs have the opportunity to explore modern career paths and understand in depth the prospects offered by the pharmaceutical industry. This event contributes substantially to the cultivation of a culture of innovation, excellence and lifelong learning—elements necessary for the evolution of the scientific community and the strengthening of Public Health for the benefit of patients and society as a whole.”

The Professor of Endocrinology at the Medical School of the University of Athens, Scientific Coordinator of the Postgraduate Programs, Ms. Melpomeni Peppa stated: “These Programs of Study are pioneers in education in terms of ways of evaluation, approval and pricing of drugs, their circulation at a theoretical, research and applied level. This year’s Career Day reflects the goals of the Postgraduate programs and is the practical application of the connection between academic education and the labor market. Through the meeting of students and graduates with representatives of the pharmaceutical industry and the wider health sector, valuable opportunities for dialogue, networking and professional development are created. As a Medical School, we systematically invest in initiatives that enhance education, the skills and careers of young scientists, actively contributing to shaping the next potential of health.”

In her address, SFEE’s Director of Communications, Ms. Maria Leontari, said: “For the third consecutive year, we are present at Career Day, reinforcing an initiative that reflects our firm commitment to highlighting and utilizing our country’s most valuable asset: young people. The pharmaceutical sector is among the most dynamic pillars of the Greek economy, with a total contribution to GDP exceeding €6.9 billion. and with 119,000 employees, contributing substantially to both employment and innovation. Above all, however, his greatest contribution is to Public Health, supporting Greek patients and their families every day. At SFEE, together with our member companies, we remain committed to supporting the new generation of scientists, systematically investing in education, skills development and lifelong learning programs that shape the executives of tomorrow.”

The conference was honored by the participation of high-ranking executives of SFEE member companies: AbbVie, AstraZeneca, Daiichi Sankyo, Demo, Pharmaserve-Lilly, Sanofi, Vianex, Win Medica, Eifron, the clinical studies company PPD, the company Thermo Fisher Scientific, as well as the Affidea diagnostic centers.
