Only disappointment arises from the longstanding disregard of SFEE’s positions and requests for improving the incentives aimed at attracting more clinical trials

Announcement

Ηalandri, April 8, 2026.- We were disappointed to receive another Government Gazette describing the upcoming program for “offsetting clawback with R&D (R&D) and investment plans for the period 2026-2027”, where we found that once again our requests – proposals to improve incentives to attract more clinical trials in our country are ignored.

With repeated letters to the Ministry of Health, but also to the co-competent ministries (Development and Finance), as well as in face-to-face meetings, we have formulated positions and proposals that, on the one hand, if listened to, would attract more clinical trials, and on the other hand, would lead to a more balanced allocation of the funds available, between investments in production and Research and Development.

The State refuses to accept the absolute tangible benefits of clinical trials, primarily for patients, but also for the health system, the national economy and ultimately society.

What we can hope as Greek citizens, but also potential patients, is that problematic access to future innovative treatments will not be fatal for anyone.
